The campaign ultimately raised $4 million for the hospital improvements.
HANOVER, Pa. – In maintaining its steadfast commitment to the betterment of the Hanover community, Utz Quality Foods, Inc., has donated $500,000 to Hanover Hospital’s Private Rooms for Every Patient (PREP) Campaign.
The donation is helping to fund a renovation of Hanover Hospital’s M4 unit, turning its semi-private patient rooms into 16 private patient rooms and increasing the hospital’s percentage of private rooms to 82 percent. With new, state-of-the-art technology for the hospital staff and comfortable, private settings for patients and families, Hanover Hospital has an eye toward the future as it expands its commitment to providing quality, compassionate care.
Utz’s donation is specifically contributing to the unit’s new Terrace Room-a quiet, peaceful retreat area furnished with seating for families and patients to enjoy the natural light and view from large windows overlooking St. Mark’s Church and the Pigeon Hills.
As Utz pledged its support in creating this restful oasis, Utz’s Chairman of the Board/CEO, Mike Rice stepped forward in 2010 to lead the overall PREP capital campaign as Chairman of the Development Council. Through Rice’s leadership, the hospital was able to secure the larger gifts it needed before bringing the campaign to the rest of the community and asking for its support. The campaign ultimately raised $4 million, and construction on the M4 unit was completed at the end of June.
James Wissler President and Chief Executive Officer said:
“Hanover Hospital is fortunate to receive this generous gift from Utz Quality Foods, Inc. Our continued efforts to meet the needs of our patients, through conversion to private beds and modernizing the unit, allows us to meet each patient expectations, and maintain the national recognitions for the high quality of care we provide."
He added, "We are very appreciative of Mr. Rice’s PREP campaign leadership. His efforts on behalf of Hanover Hospital were instrumental in achieving our goal.”
“Utz is proud to contribute to the PREP Campaign and honored to have a role in providing the greater Hanover Community access to state-of-the-art, high-quality health care,” said Utz President and Chief Operating Officer Dylan Lissette. “We are pleased to support the worthwhile mission of moving Hanover Hospital-and our community-forward, in a lasting and meaningful way.”
