Stuck for a great gift idea? How about something healthy!

I always think summer is my favorite time of year. That is, until the holidays arrive! I love the excitement of the first snow, holiday music and thinking about GIFTS! This might be my favorite part of the holidays -- I love planning out what I am going to create for my family. I like to think I’m crafty and enjoy giving people meaningful homemade gifts. Well, until my Mom mentioned that maybe this year she would like socks….WHAT!? How can this be? Socks? Who wants socks for a gift unless they are in your stocking? That’s when I decided this is the year to give gifts to promote good health instead of making things….I think this will make Mom happy too!
So what is on my list of healthy gifts?
The first item on my list of healthy gifts is a fruit basket. If you would like to extend this gift of good health through the whole year, why not buy that special someone a fruit of the month subscription?
The next item is new sneakers. Not sure of the person’s size? How about a gift card instead to a shoe store?
Do you have a Yoga lover in your family? Maybe a new mat or a new mat bag to use. I recently saw on a gift website that there are yoga blocks that can be monogrammed for that added personal touch – not a bad gift idea.
For all of us pet lovers, I am also loving the hands-free dog leash belt. This makes it easy to take the dog(s) with you and still have your hands free for running or walking.
I always think having a great water bottle helps to stay hydrated throughout the day. Look for one that multitasks such as one that has storage for your keys, or cell phone.
Another great health promotion gift would be any type of physical activity tracker. There are different types in various price ranges. Choose the one that would fit best for the recipient.
The last hot items on my list, and certainly not the least, are personal training sessions or sessions with a registered dietitian. What a great way to start the New Year!
The holidays are a great time to give the gift of health! With a new year, comes a new you.
