Presenting the Lancaster County 2014 Well Workplace Award
witf.org, | 03.28.14
Lighten Up Lancaster County and the Lancaster County Business Group on Health are excited to present the Lancaster County 2014 Well Workplace Award. Businesses that are already working on wellness initiatives in the workplace or are contemplating how to be involved in workplace wellness should complete the CDC Workplace Wellness Scorecard. Businesses are then asked to submit their scorecard and will be scored in categories that recognize their achievements.
You may be thinking: what does this award mean? Can my workplace apply? The Well Workplace Award is presented annually to recognize successful workplace wellness initiatives, as well as, to honor the leadership and dedication of local organizations who have improved the health and well-being of their employees. Any public or private organization in Lancaster County that has an employee wellness program (in the past twelve months) may apply. There are four available levels of achievement including: platinum, gold, silver, and bronze. In addition, there is a category for honorable mention, which recognizes organizations that are working toward improving their employee wellness.
Applicants will be judged on their Center for Disease Control worksite wellness scorecard. In an effort to level the playing field, companies will be judged against other companies of similar size. A large company is categorized as having 250 or more employees, and a small company is categorized as having less than or equal to 249 employees. Five awards will be given for each of the top companies in each category.
The awards will be presented at the 2014 Health Summit on May 29, 2014 at the Lancaster County Convention Center. This year the summit is focused on the importance of mental health and its relationship to physical health. We hope that workplaces begin to recognize and make improvements to mental health practices, as mental health is an essential piece of the puzzle to ones total health and well-being. Here’s the best news yet: there is no fee for submitting an application. So what do you have to lose? Submit your application by April 14, 2014 to be considered for the 2014 Well Workplace Award.
