How do you choose an urgent care center?

The number of urgent care centers across the country is growing – in fact you might even have one in your neighborhood.
But, when do you use an urgent care center? According to the National Institutes of Health, an Urgent Care Center makes sense if:
- Your problem is not life threatening or risking disability
- But it still requires immediate attention and your primary care doctor is not available.
So how do you choose an urgent care center?
Dr. Elizabeth Wolff the Associate Medical Director of PinnacleHealth Medical Group the best time to choose an urgent care center is when you don’t need one. Take time to find one in your area and then call them to ask:
- if they accept your insurance
- what your copay will be?
- do they have access to your medical records?
Doing that research ahead of time is like hanging emergency phone numbers on the fridge – it makes sense!
