On Sunday, August 17th the American Cancer Society held its annual Farm to Table Dinner at the beautiful Strites’ Orchard and Farm Market in Harrisburg.
Diners were seated inside the Strites’ Orchard marketplace which was complete with tables decked with formal linens and tableware. This open air dinner event had its menu based around ingredients obtained directly from local farms and farmers' markets.
The event’s banquet was prepared by award-winning Chef Jason Viscount of Bricco, one of the top restaurants in the Harrisburg and Hershey area. The food selections represented a variety of seasonal flavors created with the support of local food and beverage artisans such as Waltz Vineyards and Troegs Brewing Company.

For over a century, the American Cancer Society has fought for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. By taking what we've learned through research and turning it into what we do, we have contributed to a 15 percent decrease in the overall cancer death rate between the early 1990s and 2005. That means that we helped avoid about 650,000 cancer deaths and created the potential for more birthday celebrations. Overall, 11 million cancer survivors in America will celebrate a birthday this year.
