(Philadelphia) -- Pennsylvania is among the first six states in a federal program asking travelers who've recently been to Ebola-stricken West African nations to monitor themselves for symptoms of illness.
The Centers for Disease Control announced the program today.
Beginning Monday people traveling from Liberia, Sierra Leone or Guinea will be given information cards and a thermometer to measure their body temperatures twice a day for three weeks.
They'll be asked to report the results to state or local health officials, possibly in person, by phone or video chat or through employers.
The CDC says it's up to state and local officials to determine how reports are made.
New York, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey and Georgia are also in the monitoring program.
