Michael Young, CEO of PinnacleHealth, talks in an interview in his Harrisburg office on December 19th, 2016.
(Harrisburg) -- In a surprise announcement, the head of a major health system in the midstate has left the job.
Michael Young resigned as president and CEO of Harrisburg's PinnacleHealth, effective Thursday, March 2nd.
In a statement, Pinnacle says he's seeking a different career path.
The move comes after a federal court blocked Pinnacle's proposed merger with Penn State Health late last year -- after a long, expensive fight.
Last December, in his first public comments since the decision, Young told WITF the ruling was a shame, but said Pinnacle was still well-positioned for the future.
PinnacleHealth says its board will begin a search for his successor.
